According to a Justice Government Official report, In this lawsuit, authorities proclaim that between May 2013 and September 2019, Twitter misled its users with its Data collecting system.
And it was saying that they are using data like email addresses and phone numbers to protect users’ accounts. Still, it silently also used this data to target ads to help advertisers reach the audience’s social network.
The US government also stated that Twitter has no information about protected account tweets and direct messages because its employees could not check it.
In conclusion, The micro-blogging platform Twitter break the FTC Act and Order of 2011 regarding the security of consumer information and misrepresentations to disclose.
Today, Twitter officially reported about its settlement with FTC and its commitment to the privacy & security of users, and Damien Kieran posted this report. He is Chief Privacy Officer for Twitter.
